Are you into Green Smoothies yet, or are you one of those people who think they are gross?


I have to confess that when I first started seeing all those green smoothies on the internet about a year ago, I couldn’t bear the idea of mixing spinach, celery and banana together, like, how can that taste good? and so I just kep turning my nose up at them and didn’t bother.


Green smoothies weren’t so unfamiliar to me, because growing up my mom used to make fresh orange juice everyday, and she would blend it with a piece of cactus or aloe vera, sometimes a bit of papaya too, (which was delicious by the way). But that’s about as close as I had gotten to a green drink.


Perhaps I shared with you before that I struggled with very severe digestive issues about a year ago, and during that time I was forced to find the way to eat nutritious food without putting a big burden on my digestion, and so smoothies, soups and stews became my diet for several months.


For this reason I got into green smoothies. It was the only way I could digest greens and fruits without crying out of pain, and to my surprise i quite liked them; there’s no end to how many different combinations you can make.


I no longer suffer from severe digestive issues but I still make smoothies from time to time because they hit the spot when you feel like detoxing and cleaning your body.


Green smoothies are awesome, because you can get a ton of different nutrients from powerful foods like spinach, parsley and cilantro without having to eat a big salad. You can drink them up in just one cup.



Today I want to share with you a delicious combination I came up with. This smoothie will provide you with tons of energizing nutrients, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, electrolytes, chlorophyll , etc.


If you are new to green smoothies this is a great option because the taste is very mild, everything mixes really well, and the consistency is very smooth.


Pear & Banana Beginner Green Smoothie:

Makes one serving

What’s in it?

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds. (you can use pumpkin seeds, or almonds too)
  • 1/4 cup of cilantro
  • 1/2 cup of spinach
  • 1/4 of a ripe pear
  • 4 slices of english cucumber (organic preferably)
  • 3/4 of water , coconut water or orange juice (or a mix of them)
  • 2 ice cubes

How to Make it?

  • Grab your high powered blender or “magic bullet”

  • blend the hemp seeds or your choice of seeds or nuts first with the liquid until a milky liquid is form. (this is your base)
  • Add all the other ingredients and blend until smooth
  • Add the ice cubes and blend again.
  • Enjoy!


Notes: you can adjust the quantities of the ingredients to enhance the taste. if you like a mild taste add more banana and pear and use orange juice
