Finding your purpose shifts your experience of life from the limited to the expansive and from the mundane to the miraculous.

 

Once you discover your purpose and begin to live your dreams, you can go on to achieve your highest potential.

 

Do you suffer from a sense of meaninglessness?

 

Do you ever ask yourself these kinds of questions: What I’m I supposed to do in life?, why I’m I here? Why do I have to go through so much suffering and Pain? Wouldn’t it be easier not to exist at all?

 

If you have, you’re not alone. Depression, anxiety and obsessive behavior are rampant in today’s society. One out of every 5 women in the United States is on an antidepressant!

 

Afraid that our lives have no purpose, we wonder why we’re here on this earth in the first place.

 

Why do we feel so empty inside? When you are disconnected from your source, you are also disconnected from your sense of purpose. That’s why a feeling of meaninglessness is common amongst people with Negative Body Obsession.

 

No matter what you try to achieve in the physical world -riches, a beautiful body, a loving relationship- you can’t ignore the human need to fulfill a sense of purpose.

 

The great philosopher Nietzsche said: “He who has a WHY to live for,  can bear almost any HOW”.

 

Negative Body obsession buries your “Why” under all those feelings, thoughts and insecurities of not good enough. You need to relocate your Why and fulfill it, overcoming any obstacles that the HOW throws your way.

The Benefits of Living with Purpose:

 

Numerous studies have shown that people who have a sense of purpose have better health, better relationships and a higher overall sense of well-being. Without this sense of purpose, people are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, as well as Negative Body Obsession.

 

When your work feels meaningless or soul sucking, it can be literally unbearable. The psychoanalyst Sandor Ferecnzi in the early 1900s found that anxiety and depression occurred more frequently on Sundays than on any other day of the week. Why? People were dreading going back to work on Monday. Other studies have shown that more heart attacks occur on Mondays than any other day. Why? Likely because the stress of going back to work finally became too much for people’s hearts.

 

I can totally relate to that. While I was studying to become a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, I was at a job that I was not even slightly passionate about anymore, the work environment and the people were less than ideal, and I dreaded going in every morning. I felt stomach upset and anxiety when I was in that office.

 

On the other hand, work can also cover up an underlying sense of apathy and futility in life. Vacations and retirement have been shown to produce anxiety and depression in some people- even though, they should be times to be enjoyed! Why? It may be that in many cases work provides them with a sense of purpose, but this purpose doesn’t extend to the rest of their lives. When they retire or go on vacation, their underlying sense of meaninglessness is exposed.

 

At it’s most basi level, purpose can help people stay alive. Those who have suffered from intense eating disorders and emotional struggles probably know that, continued abuse of your body and mind can lead to precarious life and death situations. Finding a sense of purpose, helps those stuck in this horrific, dark places.

 

Other studies show that people with a sense of purpose have a tendency to weigh less, have lower levels of inflammation, better sleep patterns, low levels of blood sugar, and high levels of good cholesterol.

 

If you observe around your environment people who are optimistic about life and who have a sense of meaning and purpose have better physical health.

Your existence is not random, you are God’s highest form of creation, you are here on purpose and for purpose. You were intended to realize your soul’s highest potential.

 

Living your purpose is about discovering who you truly are. Once you discover this, you will begin to do things with your life that are an expression of this newfound identity. You will find yourself sharing your own gift with others.

 

Expressing your unique gifts and talents in service to others is a limitless source of ongoing inspiration. This is the goal of all goals.

 

As you begin to live from this place, your life will be spontaneously imbued with meaning on an ongoing and increasingly constant basis.

 

You Are the Creator

One of the most liberating discoveries you can make as you proceed down this path of living with purpose, is to realize that you are the general manager of your life.

 

Your life is the result of the choices that you have made in the past, nothing has been a coincidence. It is the results of the intentions that you had in the past whether you were conscious of them or not.

 

If you want to create a different life with different results begin by making different choices. Choose different thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, reactions, etc.

 

In the words of the venerable Albert Einstein: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results”.

 

As you become a conscious creator, you can act in different ways and generate different results. When you discover that you are the creator, you realize that you can choose how to respond to any situation. If you cannot change the situation itself, you can change your response to it.

 

This is not easy, but it’s the key to living a happy, empowered and successful life.

 

How to identify your Desire:

 

Become aware of what evokes intense emotion in you. What have you experienced that creates passion or desire? It can be both, pleasurable and painful. Did you always wanted to do something but you didn’t feel you were beautiful enough to do it? Did your dreams get sabotaged by you hating your body? Are you simply bored and not sure what you want? Do you feel like you are lacking something in your life?

 

Jot down some notes, and see if anything jumps at you.

 

Choosing a new Life

I know, there are many reasons why you might have struggled and suffered. Your parents probably could have done things differently; your teachers could have done things differently; society could have done things differently. But whatever happened has happened and it’s the past. Once you have detached from those negative influences, you must live as if you are the creator of your life. As the creator, you always have the choice about how you’ll respond.

 

You have a choice:

 

1.- You can blame events in your life as the cause of your suffering and challenges. This choice is disempowering because events are sometimes outside of your direct and immediate control.

 

2.- Or, you can change your response in order to yield a different outcome. When you focus on your response to life, you can make choices that will move your life in the direction that you want it to go.

 

Sometimes, you might find it difficult to make different choices. You will find yourself driven by the compulsions and obsessions that negative body obsession has created in your body and mind. You want to make different choices, but seem unable to control what you do.

 

However, with practice you will get there. It takes time to re-program your body and mind but it is totally possible. It requires consistency.   You become aware of your choices, and mindfully make different choices consistently until it becomes the new habit. You will notice obsessive behaviors begin to diminish.

 

Your awareness outside of this compulsions will expand and you will discover your ability to make different choices that yield different results.

 

By focusing on your response to events or situations, you will become aware of your thoughts, your emotions, your dreams, your energy, and your behavior.

 

Almost miraculously, you will find that as you change your response to events, the events themselves seem to change. Once you learn to respond differently to life, you will actually begin to create a different life.

 

Consider this quote from Wayne Dyer:

 

“That inner being-ness knows why you’re here, but your ego prods you to chase after money, prestige, popularity, and sensory pleasures, and miss the purpose of living ….focusing on the demands of the ego leaves you feeling unfulfilled. Deep within you, at the level of your being, is what you were intended to become, to accomplish, and to be. In that inner place-ness place you are connected to the power of intention. It will find you. Make a conscious effort to contact it and listen. Practice being what you are at the source of your soul. Go to your soul level, where intention and purpose fit together so perfectly that you achieve the epiphany of simply knowing this is it. “
