In this post I explain 3 simple steps you can use to eat less sugar and  avoid gaining weight during the winter holidays, while still enjoying the season.

Let´s get to the 3 Steps to help you eat less sugar during the holidays specially

1.- DO NOT FOCUS ON AVOIDING EATING WHAT YOU LIKE THE MOST.

Let me explain. I know you want to eat less sugar, but simply telling yourself that you Won´t will not work! You know it!

Instead of trying to avoid eating what you love most all the time because it makes you gain fat, why don´t you try deciding what are the special times, when you’re going to give yourself permission to enjoy  the pleasure of eating them?

 

For example: during the week you clean up your diet and try to eat  90% healty with minimal sugar, and the weekend when you have a meeting with friends, then you give yourself the pleasure of having that piece of pie or hot chocolate that you love.

Don’t you think it’s easier?

 

2.- KEEP YOUR STRESS LEVELS LOW, So you don´t seek comfort in sweet foods.

During the Christmas holidays, sometimes the family stresses us out. Sometimes we remember difficult situations and get depressed.

But when we are trying to eat less sugar, it´s so hard to to fall for the sweet, yummy taste of chocolate…..

It is very easy to find comfort in food when life gets hard, and when it´s sooo Cold outside like where I live, where you can´t event go for a walk, even worse!

 

Reducing your stress as much as possible will help you eat less sugar without so much effort and at the same time avoid gaining weight in December and then having to lose it in January.

One of the best ways to lower stress is to Stop Trying to be Perfect!  The “Perfect Mom”, the “perfect employee”, the Perfect wife, etc. you know what I mean…..

Focus on Progress and not so much on Perfection. Be kind to yourself in  all areas of your life including your nutrition and you´ll inmediately take a lot of pressure off you.

Yes! and Amen.

 

3.- CONSUME HOT FOODS, AND INCREASE THE SPICES IN YOUR RECIPES :

Curcumin, ginger, cumin, coriander, oregano, garlic, etc. Those spices improve your digestion, warm your body and help you feel more satisfied with less food, plus they help make  your Metabolism active and not lazy.

The more satisfied you feel with your food, the easier it will be to eat less sugar, because you just won’t crave it as much. I promise. I have seen this work for my clients over and over again.
